Odessa April's Fool Day
It was long before I started to pack my gear and got my ticket to Odessa that I knew (or, better say, I thought I knew) where I was going. Among the many things I knew about this city were a handful of historic facts, such as that it was born among the vast expanses of coastal steppes in the 18th century and endowed with its antique name… Well enough with the history! We’ll have time to not only discuss but also take a look and even get the feel of it when we get out into its merry green streets. One of the reasons why I was dying to visit Odessa was… no, not because I was interested in
apartments in Odessa! Those would always be there so there was nothing to make so much fuss of. What really made me sit on the edge of my chair forgetting to breathe were the countless stories about Odessits’ vivid and wanton tongue and, most important, I had a burning desire to attend jumorina – a kind of humor show traditionally held on April 1, or April Fool’s Day. Happily, it came within my vacation so why should I miss it?
